I think they're necessary for when animals tend to walk in front of the vehicles, like the llamas and the bison did. Some people choose to bring in their own vehicles, but it's at their own risk. We've seen the baboons rip ornaments and wipers off vehicles. And there are people driving safari trucks (as above) all over to ensure the people and animals are behaving. Jessica E.
