Back home in Canada, Love, Advice for a friend, Kindle Unlimited Release. @tdanielsauthor

Hey! I'm finally back on Canadian soil and so glad to be home. I missed my last post with my busy corporate career and a current work project that has kept me out of the country for 8 of the last 12 weeks. I have to tell you, if you have to work out of the country, the Philippines is a fantastic place to be. It was my first time there and I have to tell you that I LOVED Manila.  The people there are the kindest people I have ever met. We managed to spend some weekend time on some of the smaller islands and enjoy their beauty. I would definitely go back again just to vacation. Now that I'm back, I can start to concentrate more on my stories and future releases. I can't wait to get them to you.

I'm happy to report that romance has found its way back into my life after a brief time of… let’s call it ‘settling in’. I was scared for a little while that it was lost, but it was still there. I just needed to stop my girl brain from over thinking. In talking with friends and family members, I’ve learned that I’m not the only one who was feeling a little ‘lost’. With that ‘special day’ quickly approaching… you know the one. The one that every man would like to avoid and every woman dreams about. Nobody wants to be alone on Valentine’s Day. A friend messaged me the other day confessing that she can’t get her ex-boyfriend out of her head. They had a very tough relationship year. She was miserable after he moved out, at her request. Recently, he dropped in at the house a few times and offered to help her out with some chores. She admitted that it was tough to see him leave again and that she was extremely lonely. She's having a hard time moving on.

She said she needed some girl talk and asked me for my opinion. I’m not sure I’m the best to give advice on relationships. I’m the girl who proposed to my man and sent our relationship into a downward tailspin from which I wasn’t sure we’d recover. But this I know… Love is complicated and worth fighting for until the bitter end.  No matter how hard you try, you can’t change people. You can’t fix them or make them do things your way. Your partner in life must be able to fulfill your most important needs in life, whatever that may be; financial security; intellectual stimulation; stability; emotional & intimate support. Everything else is a compromise. You shouldn’t feel angry or anxious all the time when you’re together, nor should you feel like you don’t want to go home to that person at the end of every day. If you volunteer for overtime every night so you don’t have to deal with them, there’s a problem.

I know that he loves her; I could see it in the way he looked at her. Sadly, sometimes love is not enough. There has to be an equal effort to meet in the middle on the important things and a willingness to let go of the things that aren’t. If your partner can’t meet you in the middle of the road, then maybe you need to take a different road all together. Do you walk away because the going gets tough? Absolutely not. But only she knows for sure if she any fight left in her. I want her to be happy, but if he’s not the right one, then I don’t want her to settle for comfort and convenience.
Every woman deserves to find a partner who lifts her up, and makes her feel excited. Second, third or fourth chances shouldn’t be needed.

Sometimes relationships are easy. Sometimes they are a lot of hard work. They are ALWAYS complicated and confusing. I was so afraid that I was going to fall for the same kind of guy as my ex that I rejected all men for over 18 years. I know what she means when she says she’s lonely for companionship and intimacy. I do know that eventually the ‘right’ guy will come along. I’m not the most patient girl, but I’m really glad that I waited. The love of my life finally found me and although there are some twists and turns on our happily ever after journey, we are equal partners in life. Best friends. Lovers.

I guess to make a long story short my advice, to her and any of you who who need to hear it... Don’t settle. You deserve to be loved.

Bound4Ireland... The beginning.

A week ago, I was sitting in the airport in Toronto, waiting for my flight to Dublin.  Yes, I finally made my dream trip to Ireland. But truth be told this is more than just a dream. It's a necessary life journey. I promised you the story behind the Bounde4Ireland story: the inside scoop. I'm a little weary of sharing this story in public. Some of you may think I'm absolutely off my rocker. But here it goes.

Do you ever wake up from a dream and think... What the ever-loving-heck was that? Well, I had one of those about four years ago. It was the kind of dream that makes you look around the room to try and figure out where you are. It happened days on end and they were becoming more and more intense. The places in my dreams, the people, the man (it's always about the man) seemed familiar to me, but I had no idea who they were or where I was. After weeks of it, a friend finally suggested that maybe I should try dream journals. She said that the moment I woke up I should write down everything I remember. Then go back over my notes later on and read them. If there was a message I was supposed to be getting from these dreams, it might be clearer to me then. So I did what she said. I even slept with my laptop beside me so when I woke, I could quickly get the thoughts down. Sometimes, the memory of the man with the short brown hair and meadow green eyes stuck with me all day. I found myself going back over my dreams, reading them repeatedly. Some times as I did I would recall the emotion that was attached to the dream and I would try to capture that in my notes as best I could.

Although the sequence of events didn't always seem to come in a logical or known order, one thing was very clear to me. The young girl with the long curly hair was me. The man, the one that made my heart pound... he was my lover.  Sometimes the dreams felt so real that I would wake, crying. Perhaps because it was a love so "pure' and 'true' that I was overwhelmed by having experienced it, or maybe I was crying because I was afraid I would never experience that kind of love ever again. The dreams haunted me for months. My notes got longer and more detailed. I became somewhat obsessed with it all.

Until one October when a friend of mine had a psychic party in her home. A bunch of us girls all gathered together for some wine and snacks and we would all receive a half hour reading. I still remember the moment the three wicken women from Mount Forest walked into the house. An eerie calm fell over the bunch of cackling women in the room as the readers made their way to the bedrooms where they would provide short individual readings. The hair stood up on the back of my neck, causing me to look up and find the small English woman pointing at me from across the room. "YOU." she said sternly, "You, need to come and see ME. I have a message for you."
All eyes turned to me and mouths dropped open. I picked up my purse and obediently followed her into the room that was transformed into a make-shift reading room. Now, I've had a reading before and I'm not going to lie, I'm a skeptic. I did it because it would be fun to find out what things they would predict. If they told me I was going to get rich and find the man of my dreams, well then, I'll choose to believe it, because this is just for entertainment purposes and I like the thought of that. I didn't take it too seriously. How could anybody see the future, truly. I sat at the chair across from a small card table set up in the room. "Why do you look so frightened?" she asked me.
"I have no idea."
She nodded her head and spread the tarot cards out in front of me. I picked the number of cards requested and turned them face up. She studied them for some time then turned them back over. "You're not here for a reading." she advises.
"I'm not?" I asked, confused. It would be just my luck to spend $60 for fun and not even get a reading. The least she could do is lie to me and tell me I'm going to fall and love and find success in my career.
"No. My spirit guide has told me to tell you that you must acknowledge 'Ireland'. "
Her words startled me. Now there's a coincidence. I suspected the places in my dreams were in Ireland. For months I had been searching online through pictures, looking for familiar places. "Ireland?" I asked, playing stupid.
"Yes, Ireland. And don't bother telling me lies." she warned, "My spirit guide as told me all about him." The man in my dreams. In great detail she was able to tell me exactly what he looked like. She recounted how he meticulously rolled the cuffs on his shirt sleeves and how he loved to sing. Now, I know I had said that I was a skeptic. And maybe she was a fraud... but if she was, then this little old English woman found a way to get into the files on my laptop at home and read my notes without even knowing I'd be at this party. Overwhelmed I began to cry and she reached across the table and placed her hand over mine. "You know they aren't dreams, don't you. They are past life memories."

Well I had suspected such, but again I'm a skeptic. Tears well up in my eyes and I struggled to talk. Finally I asked her... "Why? Why am I remembering now?"
"Because, you're ready now."
"Ready for what?"
"For his message."
"Please." I beg, through my tears. "It's driving me mad. Tell me what the message is."
"It's time." she advises. "He wants you to remember what it feels like to be loved. He wants you to open your heart and let love in. It's time."

To be continued...

Stayed tuned !

A Little Bit About Canadian Romance Author Tricia Daniels

Hi! Have we met? I’ve been MIA for a little while so I thought that it would be a great opportunity to re-introduce myself. I’m Tricia Daniels and I live in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada, called Orangeville. It was a great place to raise my three kids, especially as a single parent. Creativity and imagination was something there is never a short supply of in my home. My kids come by their talents honestly. My goal is simple, tell my story, warm a few hearts, shed a few tears, share a silent chuckle, and occasionally, make people blush.

That’s the official version. But the simple truth is... I’m just a normal woman, struggling to pay the bills and trying to raise my kids in a home where they feel empowered, supported and loved. Sounds easy, right? Not so much for a woman who left an extremely violent relationship with three small children in the middle of the night. Things were not all puppies and rainbows. My kids didn’t have an easy life for several years. Kids shouldn’t have to worry about anything except being kids. If you meet me, you’d probably never know that, to this day, I still suffer from post-traumatic stress. After keeping myself guarded for several years, I’ve met a wonderful man who understands my anxiety and my triggers. For the first time in my life, I feel safe and I feel loved.

I have a diploma in Industrial maintenance and several business certificates and yet, I can’t make a box of instant mashed potatoes without completely messing them up. My children refer to the smoke detector as the dinner bell. Sighs. Every girl needs to have a skill and mine apparently is not cooking. Iol I currently have a very demanding corporate career that keeps me challenged and engaged. I think my boss keeps me so busy because he’s terrified of what I may be capable of if I’m bored. He’s a smart man. I often remind him how difficult it is to be both beautiful and brilliant. Sometimes you just get beautiful. J

Here’s something else you should know…I’m not an author. My friends laugh when I say that. I didn’t enjoy reading as a child and English was not my strongest subject. As a matter of fact, grammar and punctuation despise me. Still do. (Insert gratitude for Barren Acres Editing here) Between my quick wit and wicked sense of humor, I found that I have a passion for writing steamy romance stories. I would have never considered publishing my story, until a very close friend convinced me that this was a story that needed to be shared for others to enjoy. So somewhere along the line, I pushed the publish button. Since then I figured out that I need editors, and beta readers, blog reviews and readers. It’s just like me to work ass backwards, but I’m figuring it out.

In a nutshell, I have never aspired to write the next great love story or take the literary world by storm. Love inspires me to continue writing. I’m addicted to the way we connect with fictional characters, feeling their emotions, their angst... when you’re body gets all warm and squeezy at the good parts. I love when the characters take over the story and plot twists develop that I hadn’t planned. I love the journey to the HEA, even though that road has a lot of bends in it sometimes. I love how two imperfect characters can love each other perfectly. My reward, my inspiration is experiencing through them, a love so deep, that I feel it in my own heart.

Over my next few blog posts, I’m going to introduce you to my story, Intractable Souls, the first book in the Bound4Ireland series and how it came to be written as well as all the secrets behind the scenes. I hope you’ll check back in and join me for that journey. You can download my Bound4Ireland series or read a sample on most of the eBook channels.
