Book-bound For Niagara Falls #RTF2017 & A New Release

Book-Bound For Niagara Falls!

As this post goes live, I will be on the road, heading to Romancing the Falls, 2017. There is nothing more exciting to me than book signing events where we have the chance to meet our readers, and fellow authors up close and personal.

With the digital times of writing and publishing romance, so many of my kindred spirits I meet online. Lovers of dragons and everything paranormal, hopeless romantics, and die-hard readers who fiercely love their authors and travel to the ends of the earth for a chance to meet them in person.

A handful of authors from this very blog will also be in attendance (take a peek at the banner above to see who!), some of which, I've yet to meet in person, and others I have and absolutely adore.

So what is this event I'm so excited about? Have a look and see! http://www.romancingthefalls.com/

As fate would have it, I've been lucky enough to have a release coincide with this event, so I'm gonna tell you all about it! I'm so pleased to share with you, my next Wiccan Haus story with Decadent Publishing: Mythic Iron - A Wiccan Haus Dragons' story.

Blurb:

Flames of Venom…
When the president of Mythic Iron is brutally slain, the VP and the sergeant at arms set out to protect the club’s legacy, and next target. Sai is a world-class MMA champion, and a half-breed dragon with a fiery temper. After the vicious murder of her mother, she fled the arms of her two mates and the MC, and made her way to the ring. A fighter with an edge, she doesn’t apologize, never holds back and doesn’t need saving. The unexpected arrival of her estranged mates coincides with the biggest fight she’s ever had; the one for her own life.

Dragons of iron…
A leather-clad soldier of fortune with a patch was all Levi could be without her. The MC had taken him in years before, an injured child with no past. A purple dragon with a propensity for danger, he’s evolved into the ultimate weapon for their club. Can he ever reclaim their mate, or will she kill them first?

Drake was born into a legacy of crime…
In the wake of their mate denying their bond evolved a cold, merciless dragon who did whatever the MC required of him. A reunion with their mate is soon wrought with tragedy, leaving Sai critically injured. Devastated by his failure to protect her and the people she loves, he reaches out to an old comrade for help.

Welcome back to the Wiccan Haus. A place meant for healing, but will the arrival of the purple dragons mean the end of island peace?

Excerpt:

“No….” She widened her eyes and shook her head. “I don’t want to hear it.”
“Babe, please, you have to listen—” Levi asserted.
“I said no!” she hissed. “Hortese, who’s scheduled for a bout tonight?” She spun around and jogged over to the banged-up lockers and grabbed a roll of tape.
Levi moved to follow her, but Drake gripped his shoulder. “Don’t.”
“There are a few new people tonight. Didn’t recognize their names, but they haven’t arrived yet,” Hortese told Sai.
“Yes we have,” a low voice boomed from the doorway.
Drake twisted around to find six, gargantuan men in dark pants and T-shirts, sauntering in. The epitome of bad news with stone-cold expressions, domineering stances, and muscular physiques. Their presence shot pangs of caution through his stomach.
“Brother.”
His sergeant of arms mumbled back, “What do you want me to do, take ’em out?”
“Not yet. We don’t know why they’re here. See how she handles it. We’ve got her back if anything happens.” If only he believed his own words. They had no way to know if these were the same guys who ransacked their clubhouse last night, but he’d bet his patch they were.
“Who’s first?” she called out in her raspy, venomous tone.
Drake glanced over to find her narrow her eyes and slowly slither the tip of her tongue across her upper lip. She was pissed, but now she was on guard, too. Sai pounded at the old CD player until the tune “Mortal Combat” blared throughout the gym. Her serpent sense of smell alone would have alerted her to something about the new arrivals he’d already suspected. Her traditional kick-ass tune was the tell. Shit was about to get real.

March Break Blues mixed with Early Release!

Hello in the land to Romance Eh!

It's been a long, dreary March Break here in Eastern Ontario. Rain, rain, snow, and more rain. Mud everywhere, finding it's way into every nook and cranny of my car, my shoes, my coat and my house!

With two young kids off school for the week, one would usually plan day trips and fun outings, but instead, we've been stuck indoors most of the time since my first born took a terrible spill and tore a few ligaments in her ankle.

Thankfully, nothing is broken, but soft tissue takes just as long to heal, so my sweet minion is confined to crutches, no stairs and limited outings. It's been a dreadful week for her. An injured, sweet girl with a great deal of pent up energy equals a very cranky teen, coupled with an enthusiastic younger brother who worships his big sister, we now have a recipe for petty arguments and endless bickering. This Momma is ready for March Break to be over!

I am happy to see her love of reading continues to grow, not because of her confinement, but she's had more time to indulge because of it. Over the last two weeks, I've bought her three books from the Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer, she absolutely loves this series, and reads to her little brother every night at bedtime, which more than makes up for the bickering.

We've made a few small trips to pick up necessities and visit a darling friend to lighten the load, but I'm pretty confident my minions are even more eager for them to get back to school than I am.

On a happier note, my newest release was supposed to come out April 8, but it's here early, so it's time to celebrate!

My newest ménage, A Cougar Among Wolves is part of Decadent Publishing's smash hit series, Black Hills Wolves.

A sadistic attack leaves Klaya, a Puma Clan Cougar, critically injured and the last of her family ferociously slain. She stumbles into Black Hills Wolf territory and collapses. Now under the protection of the pack, she finds herself whisked away to hide out in a cave until her old friend, the alpha returns. Potentially the last of her shifter kind, she has nothing left to lose, but her life and a chance to avenge her brother.
After a dangerous rescue, on the edge of pack territory, Seth and Rogue take a woman on the brink of death back to the pack. Her identity and why she was brutalized is a mystery. The pieces soon fit together and the realization this assault was no coincidence. The Black Hills Wolves pack faces a bigger threat than they could even imagine. The trio soon find themselves on a tumultuous journey of life and death, and relentless lust.

Excerpt:

Klaya paused and tried to steady her shaky fingers, mustering the courage she needed most right now. “How’s your drink, Seth?” She sat down adjacent to them.
“Fantastic.” He grinned.
A surprising playfulness rolled over her. “Bet there’s something I can do neither of you can.”
“Climb trees, catch wild game, outrun us?” Seth chimed in with a curious smile.
“Oh, those things.” She waved off his innocence. “I mean something a little more…sassy.”
“Such as?” Rogue narrowed his eyes.
She collected her own garnish and held it up in front of her mouth with a smirk. “Can you tie your cherry stem into a knot, boys?”
“It’s not rocket science. Sure.” Rogue took the bait and started twisting his between his fingers.
“Anyone can do it like that…I mean, with no hands?”
Rogue and Seth lowered their cups and glanced at each other with wide eyes.
“You can tie it in a knot, with no hands?” Seth’s disbelief spurred her on.
She winked and popped the juicy morsel into her mouth. She gripped and tugged with her teeth and devoured the delectable sweetness. “I most certainly can.” Klaya winked and tilted her head back. Satisfied with her captive audience, she eased the stem into her mouth. She swirled her tongue over twisting it into a circle and utilized her teeth as she tucked one end through the hole. Content with her performance, she parted her lips and held the knot between her teeth. She collected it between her thumb and fingertip with a grin and presented her prize to her observers. “Ta da.”
“Holy shit!” Rogue squirmed and adjusted his pants.
Klaya glanced down, pleased with his unmistakable bulge. She snickered when she caught sight of Seth tucking his shirt over his zipper.
“Your talent is, uh….” Seth’s voice was gruff.
“Mind-blowing,” Rogue offered in a throaty whisper.

That's Amore...No, That Canadian!

I never really think about things that are solely Canadian. I mean here in North America we eat similar food...except for down the south where they eat things like 'Gator. LOL We don't have those scary things up here, (and I'm totally okay with that. lol) But, we have poutine which is a gift from the gods. :)

To be honest I never really thing about the things that are truly "ours" until someone mentions it. Usually my editor...those comment bubbles always make me laugh. Like when I was asked what a"hydro bill" is because in the US they just refer to it is as the electric bill.

During my edits for my last book I got a bubble comment about a drink one of my characters was drinking..I'd just referred to it as a Caesar.
Did you know The Bloody Caesar is a Canadian thing!

The Classic Caesar
PHOTO: Appetite by Random House
WAAAAAAAAAAT?
I don't think I've ever been more surprised. Way back in my bartending days I made a gazillion of them and it never dawned on me that this was a canuck creations. For those of you who are unfamiliar a Bloody Caesar is like a Bloody Mary but you swap out the Tomato Juice for Clamato Juice.
How something like this is created up here I have no idea. I mean clams might be popular on the far east and west coasts but when I hear about clams I think about the American East coast.

After a bit of research I found that it was created by a mane named Walter Chell in 1969 in Calgary Alberta. (dead center of the country and no where near where you'd find clams. lol) This drink was created to celebrate the opening of a new Italian restaurant. Inspired by Spaghetti alle vongole (Spagetti, Tomato Sauce and Clams) a dish from Venice, Italy.

So there you have it. In case you are feeling inspired this summer and want to try this incredibly popular drink, here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz (30 mL) vodka
  • 2 dashes hot sauce
  • 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 grinds fresh cracked salt and pepper
  • 4 oz (120 mL) Mott’s Clamato Cocktail
Preparation:
  1. Rim a highball glass with citrus and celery salt
  2. Fill the glass to the top with ice.
  3. Add the ingredients in the order listed.
  4. Stir well to mix the cocktail, and garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge.

Everyone has their favourite way to have a caesar, What do you do to make yours unique?

Join me and we'll raise a couple Casears to celebrate my upcoming release...

Another trip to the Writer's Retreat!

Greetings from this side of Spring!

Where is it where one can have below freezing temperatures and hot all in the same day? Only in Canada. LOL

We took a recent trip up to my writer's retreat in Northern Ontario and when we got there, the ice was just going out on some of the lakes and ponds but the air was quite warm - so off came the winter coats. Yeah!!

And then came a lovely heat wave for a couple of days which allowed me to hit some hiking trails and snap some colorful Spring shots.

But just before we left the writer's retreat...guess what? Snow!
Here's a pic taken from the retreat's living room window...on came the winter coats!

Oh well, LOL, winter does have a way of hanging on.
However sunny days are on the way. Squeeeing!
Then I'll be able to start writing outdoors again.
Notice the old writer's chair on the pic below?

I like my aliens blue and SEXY! Post by Jessica E. Subject @jsubject

I admit it. When I first started writing my alien stories, I was afraid of extraterrestrials. It had to do with watching the movie SIGNS and living in a house surrounded by corn fields. But writing about sexy aliens became a form of therapy for me, and I quickly got over that fear.

While my favorite alien will always be SUPERMAN, the aliens I write about tend to have blue skin, are big guys (as in taller and broader than me), and tend to be sexy as sin. I started this trend in Celestial Seduction, and continued with Satin Sheets in Space, An Unexpected Return, Another Night, Another Planet, His Alien Virgin, and Crash Landing. In fact, in Crash Landing, I have two different species of blue aliens.

Here's an excerpt from the sci-fi erotica story.
(I've had to edit it a bit to make it PG-13.) Enjoy!

He rushed to the right. The cries of pleasure continued as he reached the entrance behind which the action took place. The door ajar, he dared a quick glimpse into the room. With a gasp, he stepped back into the hall, but could not take his eyes off the sight in front of him.

With her naked body in full view, a woman attended to a man. The scent of her desire wound through his nasal passages and drew him closer. But unlike any beings he had ever seen on the vids of Earth, the guy had blue skin. Not his own deep, almost indigo shade, but lighter, closer to the color of the water he’d landed in. Long blond hair flowed over his shoulders, onto his muscular chest.

The man held the woman’s shoulders with his webbed hands—yes, webbed hands
